After last night, there shouldn’t be any debate about which Big 12 South team should go to the Big 12 title game. It should be the Oklahoma Sooners. You have to look at the facts here. Texas did beat Oklahoma by 10 points on a neutral field at the Cotton Bowl. I could make some excuses but that’s not needed. Good teams overcome adversity and on that day, the Longhorns were better according to the scoreboard. Fast-forward to last week. The Sooner absolutely spanked the Red Raiders. Texas Tech had earlier beat the Longhorns. Prior to yesterday, you had Mack Brown politicking for the Longhorns, saying they beat Oklahoma so they should be there. They even threw an airplane up with a banner, at the mere cost of $7000 prior to yesterday’s Oklahoma-Oklahama State game. That was prior to the Sooners beating the Cowboys by 20 on their field, where they haven’t lost all year. I think you can debate for each of the three teams involved: Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas. The longhorns main belief is that they beat the Sooners but somehow they fail to mention that Tech beat them. Did it escape their memory? I think it escaped their memory as much as last year’s Super Bowl did to the New England Patriots, who went through the regular season undefeated. The lesson here is clear and simple. It’s not how you start, it’s how and where you finish. The Sooners finished their statement last night!
Go Sooners!
